I am a third generation farmer with land in the Westlands Water District. I was at a water meeting in Los Baños on Jan. 14. | Full Story

Why is Secretary Salazar's, excuse me, Czar Salazar's press release so important? What a deceptive lie! Is this purely about the reelections of Costa and Cardoza? By the way, they have voted against bills to free up water and for bills to block turning on the pumps for San Joaquin Valley farmers. | Full Story

A warm hello to all citizens of Los Baños with wishes of good health, love, and prosperity for the year 2010! | Full Story

I would like to congratulate Kevin Vaughn on his "The Big Screen" movie reviews. His reviews are as good as those in the Fresno Bee or the San Francisco Chronicle, which I always read. | Full Story

I was very distraught upon receiving a call from a 66-year-old man who said he and his wife are without a home because their's burned down. When I asked if he had insurance, he seemed surprised and said it was a rental. Unfortunately, many people who rent don't think about the loss they will incur if their rental burns down. | Full Story

The Kiwanis Club of Los Baños takes this opportunity to thank all of the organizations and individuals who made our Christmas Eve 2009 Dinner possible. With your help our 2009 dinner directly reached 750 people. Three hundred dinners were delivered throughout our community and 450 dinners were served at Fire Station #1. Most of these people would not have otherwise had a Christmas dinner. Additional food was delivered to Manna Ministries as well as to the Warming Center located at the Miller & Lux Building. It is estimated that approximately 1,000 meals were provided as a result of your generosity. | Full Story

My name is Keith Snow. I am writing this to the people just to make them aware that I know how it is to be homeless. I myself have experienced this in my life. | Full Story

Los Baños Rescue Mission would like to express its gratitude to everyone who gave of their time or their finances to help us serve our community this past year. 2009 was our first full year to be open and it was a year of growth for us. We served an amazing 21,817 meals last year to the hurting and hungry of Los Baños. We have a great staff of volunteers that work hard all year long. And this year we began to see donations from several people and businesses throughout Los Baños that gave to support our ministry. We would like to say "Thank You" and may God Bless each of you. | Full Story

    Gooberville Gets Decorum

As in so much of society today, Gooberville suffered a breakdown in civil discourse. The Gooberville City Council meetings grew longer in length as citizen and politicians took to calling each other doodyheads and such things, getting into personal, vindictive arguments, rather than attempting to debate issues in a civil manner.

The Mayor asked the City Attorney to draft an ordinance to force people to behave in a civil manner. The City Attorney said, "Let me think about this. I will let you know soon."

As they entered Gooberville City Hall the night of the next Council meeting, the Mayor told the Attorney that he had not heard from the Attorney as promised. "Ah, I think you will find tonight that the matter will be resolved without need for a new ordinance."
