Police are yet to make arrests in what is believed to have been a gang-related shooting earlier this month.
Sgt. Ivan Mendez said the victim was treated and released from the hospital the same day of the incident.
The shooting took place on the 400 block of L Street on April 13 at 4:07 a.m.
Police said Sgt. Jesus Parras arrived at the scene and located two adult females running from the area asking for help. A male was found a few blocks away suffering from two gunshot wounds.
Police said the victims reported sitting in a vehicle when two males approached and made gang-related comments. One of the males discharged a firearm into the vehicle, according to police. The females were not injured. The male victim was airlifted to a Modesto hospital.
The suspects were last seen running from the area and have not been located. Police have not provided a description of the suspects or the age of the victim.
Police have categorized the shooting as gang-related and stated that they believe the parties involved know one another.
“We don’t believe this was a random act,” Cmdr. Ray Reyna Jr. said.
