Police are investigating two robberies that occurred during the weekend.
It is unclear if the incidents are related.
According to Cmdr. Jason Hedden a taxi company called police at 8:35 p.m. Saturday to report that one of its drivers had been robbed.
Police said the taxi driver was called out to the 1100 block of Illinois Avenue where he was approached by at least four Hispanic males. Police said the driver was assaulted and his wallet was stolen.
The suspects are described as wearing black hooded sweatshirts. They were last seen running north on the 1100 block of Illinois Avenue.
A second incident occurred at 10:51 p.m. Police said a business was robbed at gunpoint on the 800 block of West Pacheco Boulevard. Police said two Hispanic males entered the business, one with a gun, and demanded money. One of the males was described as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and white gloves. The other was reportedly wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt. They both appeared to be in their late teens or early 20s, thin and between five-foot-seven inches and five-foot-five inches tall.
“We encourage our citizens to be aware of their surroundings and call 9-1-1 if they observe suspicious activity,” Hedden said.
