A gang-related stabbing on Saturday has led police to make a handful of arrests.
The Los Banos Police Department responded to the intersection of Eighth and D streets after receiving a report of a fight.
When officers arrived, they found a 23-year-old man suffering from a two-inch laceration on his left arm. Police said they also discovered Alfredo Ontiveros, 37, Michael Pena, 29, Marcus Nunez, 19, and Andres Gomez, 20, attempting to leave the area.
The victim reportedly told police the four men assaulted him after they argued. The incident appears to be an ongoing dispute among gang members, police said.
Ontiveros, Pena, Nunez and Gomez were placed under arrest on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and participation in a criminal street gang.
The four were booked into the Los Banos Jail, each is being held in lieu of $80,000.00 bail.
On Tuesday detectives served four search warrants at the homes of the suspects in this case. The warrants were served in the 800 block of F Street, the 1800 block of Claremont Drive, the 600 block of C Street and the 2200 block of Gilbert Gonzalez Jr. Drive. Police said several gang-related items were recovered at each residence and a rifle with the serial number removed was located at Ontiveros’ F Street home. Law enforcement plans to pursue additional charges regarding the firearm.
“Our patrol and detective staff did an outstanding job investigating this case and getting another gun out of the hands of local gang members,” said Cmdr. Ray Reyna Jr.
