Three men were arrested Thursday evening after leading police on a vehicle pursuit through the areas of Ballico, Cressey and Winton.
Merced County Sheriff's deputies noticed 1992 Ford Crown Victioria running stop signs near the intersection of South Avenue and Pepper Street at 5:50 p.m., California Highway Patrol Merced Officer Eric Zuniga said.
They attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver wouldn't yield and led them on a chase through Santa Fe Avenue until CHP took over the chase near the intersection of Eucalyptus Avenue and Shaffer Road, Zuniga said.
The car headed back on Santa Fe Avenue, where they rolled over spike strips laid by CHP, Zuniga said. The three occupants of the vehicle fled on foot.
CHP officers and Sheriff's deputies set up a perimeter around the area and eventually apprehended the three suspects.
Two suspects were Hispanic males between the ages of 20 and 24, while the third was a 17-year-old Hispanic male, Zuniga said. One of the suspects who was bitten by a Sheriff's Office K9 and suffered minor injuries was transported to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock, but it wasn't clear Thursday which suspect it was.
