Two men were arrested in connection with a residential burglary early Saturday after the victim surprised one of the men inside his home, police reported this week.
Police responded to the 1100 block of Hoover Avenue at 3:31 a.m. after a homeowner reported his residence was being burglarized
Officers said the man was sitting in the living room when he heard a noise near his laundry room. The man went to investigate the noise and observed Harvey Garcia, 19, of Watsonville holding a flashlight, looking through the victim’s personal belongings, according to police.
Garcia fled after being confronted by the homeowner. Officers blocked off an area near Eleventh Street and eventually found Garcia hiding in the area.
Police said they also found Garcia’s vehicle parked nearby with a sleeping David Gerritson, 21, of Gilroy inside. Gerritson was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and having an outstanding arrest warrant.
Police are investigating whether Garcia and Gerritson came to Los Banos from Watsonville with the intention of committing burglaries.
Garcia was arrested was arrested on suspicion of burglary and booked into the Los Banos Jail. Garcia remains in custody in lieu of $50,000 bail.
