Police catch laundry coin thief in the act

August 22, 2014

Officers caught a burglary suspect on Sunday thanks to a tip from a concerned citizen, the Los Banos Police Department reported.

According to Cmdr. Ray Reyna, police were dispatched in the early afternoon to an apartment complex in the 100 block of West J Street after a report of a possible theft in progress.

When officers arrived, they found 23-year-old Jordan Eric Davis of Los Banos breaking into coin-operated laundry machines in the complex’s laundry room. Reyna said Davis was found in possession of several coins apparently taken from the machines.

“This could have been yet another unsolved case,” Reyna said in a press release, “but because a concerned neighbor took the time to do the right thing and call 9-1-1, we now have someone” in custody.
