Major injury crash reported in Los Banos area

July 2, 2014

At least one person suffered major injuries today in a crash involving up to five vehicles on Highway 152 near the Los Banos area in Merced County, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Few details were immediately available as officers scrambled to help victims, investigate the crash and clean up the scene.

It was not immediately clear how many people were injured, but at least one person was believed to have suffered unspecified major injuries, Officer Dean Emehiser confirmed.

At least one big-rig tractor-trailer truck was involved, along with a box van and three other cars, including a gray colored Honda sedan, according to the CHP website.

Emehiser said both lanes of Highway 152 were about to reopen around 1 p.m.

The crash was reported around 10:44 a.m. on Highway 152 near Upper Cottonwood Road, according to the website.

This is a developing story. More information will be reported as it becomes available.
