The Los Banos Police Department shut down two grow operations earlier this month, confiscating $2.4 million worth of marijuana, police said last week.

Search warrants were served June 10 at residences in the 2200 block of Imperial Street and the 1300 block of El Camino Way.

Police officers and members of the Merced Multi-Agency Narcotics Task Force discovered 800 marijuana plants totaling $2.4 million at the residences.

A loaded gun was also found at one of the locations.

Police said no arrests were made at either residence.

Law enforcement officials are continuing to search for the culprits.

Police say they have taken $5 million of marijuana off the streets of Los Banos in the past four months.

In late March, police confiscated $2.6 million worth of marijuana at four illegal grow sites in town.

“We’ve uncovered six sophisticated marijuana growing operations in the last few months alone, costing these illegal growers millions of dollars in profits,” Police Chief Gary Brizzee said.

“At some point, these criminals will learn Los Banos is not the place for illegal marijuana growing operations,” he said.

Anyone with information regarding these marijuana growing operations or other incidents is asked to contact the Los Banos Police Department at (209) 827-7070, ext. 0, or Merced Area Crime Stoppers at (855) 725-2420 or or at www.mercedareacrime stoppers.org.
