TUOLUMNE COUNTY — A Los Banos man suffered major injuries after his motorcycle left the road and hit a hill Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
The accident occurred at 12:15 p.m. on Highway 49 just north of the Tuolumne/Mariposa county line, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Jorge Campos, 33, was driving a 2009 Suzuki GSXR750 north at 45 to 60 mph when he missed a curve and the cycle went off the road onto the shoulder on the east side. It hit a hillside, throwing Campos off.
Both Campos and the motorcycle came to rest on the right shoulder of the highway. Campos was taken by helicopter to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
