The Los Banos Police Department arrested a man last week who is suspected of robbing a convenience store at gunpoint in April.

Police arrested Gustavo DeAlba, 19, of Los Banos, at his residence April 30. DeAlba was wanted in connection with an April 20 robbery of Circle K at 5:47 West I St. Authorities allege DeAlba entered the store at 2:26 a.m. with a handgun and demanded money while concealing his face.

Police believe DeAlba fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Last week Los Banos and California State Lottery police served a search warrant at DeAlba’s home on the 800 block of Illinois Avenue, one block from the store. Detectives reportedly recovered evidence from the robbery, including the firearm used during the incident.

DeAlba wass arrested on suspicion of armed robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm. DeAlba was taken to the John Latorraca Correctional Facility. He has posted $150,000 bail.

Cmdr. Jason Hedden said police are examining evidence from the case.

“DeAlba has been a suspect since the initial phases of this investigation,” Hedden said. “Our detectives have been working with the Department of Justice crime laboratory examining evidence linking DeAlba to the crime.”
