At approximately 5:15 p.m. Friday afternoon a tree limb from a large pine tree fell on a power line in front of the Ted Falasco Arts Center at the intersection of 5th and K streets in Los Banos. Firefighters from Los Banos City Fire Department responded to the area to keep people away from the live power line until PG&E could arrive to disconnect the power of which they did at 5:45 p.m. Many people in the area are without power. PG&E workers on scene and hope to have the power back on by 8 p.m. The wind was the cause of the tree limb breaking and falling on the power line according to Los Banos Fire Chief Chet Guintini who was on scene monitoring the situation. Due to the power outage the planned Tom Faria and Friends concert scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday night had to be cancelled. The Tom Russell concert scheduled for Saturday night will take place as planned.
