— Get your cowboy boots and western wear ready for a “Party on the Prairie” with local artist and musician Terry Brown.

The singer-songwriter is set to perform at 7:30 p.m. April 19 at the Ted Falasco Arts Center, 1105 Fifth St.

“Party on the Prairie” is Brown’s most recent CD released worldwide earlier this month. “It is an all-original, fun, diverse-mix of musical styles with western-cowboy that cover just about everything cowboy,” Brown said in a recent interview.

The CD release party isn’t just a celebration of his latest CD but a celebration of something even closer to his heart, his wife. Trick roper Hilda Machado-Brown will join her husband with her own talent. The Browns said what makes this event so special is that they are celebrating in the very same place they were married 34 years ago.

“The Los Banos arts center used to be St. Joseph’s Catholic Church,” Terry Brown said. “Hilda and I were married there on April 12, 1980. So it is kind of like our anniversary as well as the CD release party.”

Although both have their own talents and separate career paths, the Brown’s have always been involved with each other’s journey. Hilda has helped write some of Terry’s songs.

“I want to make sure that Los Banos remembers that Hilda is a native daughter of Los Banos and has always believed that you should never stop dreaming,” Terry Brown said. “Regardless of your background or where you grew up, if you work hard, believe in yourself, and pursue those dreams, you can achieve great things.”

Rags Murtaugh, a harmonica player and friend of the Browns, will make an appearance along with some swing dancers to really show Los Banos how to “party on the prairie,” Terry Brown said.

“I am very excited about having Terry and Hilda back at the Arts Center,” said Cyndi Roelofs, vice president of program development. “They are ‘our own’ and we are so proud when we can show off our local talents ... this is a rare opportunity for us to see them right here.”

Terry plans to release at least two singles to Country radio from this CD over the next two years while performing at different venues. General admission tickets are $20. For more information, call (209) 826-6132 or (209) 826-6022 or visit www.losbanosarts.org.
