Los Banos grad Petrissans hired as Clovis West head football coach

Clovis West has its new football coach.

George Petrissans was approved Wednesday night by Clovis Unified School District’s board. He had been the head coach at Christian Brothers in Sacramento the past three seasons.

A 1991 graduate of Los Banos High, Petrissans had an overall record of 16-18 as Christian Brothers coach after assisting the program for nine years. Christian Brothers went 9-4 this past fall with the school’s first two Sac-Joaquin Section playoff victories since 1986, including a 54-20 dismantling of Pacheco in the first round.

Petrissans had been identified to the CUSD board as the high school’s “recommended candidate” in late February.

He replaces Mike Parsons, who on Monday was named head coach at Modesto Christian, where he coached a state championship-winning team in 2009 before leaving for Clovis West.

Parsons was 8-24 at Clovis West the past three seasons after starting his Golden Eagles tenure in 2010 with a 12-1 season that included the Central Section D-I championship.
