Two burglaries blocks from each other last week have police warning employees of local businesses to be aware of their surroundings.

“We encourage employees and customers to report any suspicious activity around our local businesses,” Detective Sgt. Ivan Mendez said.

The burglaries occurred during the early-morning hours on Jan. 28 and 29.

The first incident was reported at 4:23 a.m. Officers responded to an alarm going off in the 1200 block of Pacheco Boulevard. Police reportedly found the business’s glass door broken. Police said video footage showed a large person wearing red and gray clothing and a backward baseball cap entering the business and leaving with 10 packs of cigarettes and two bottles of liquor.

Police searched the area around the business and arrested Cynthia Aquirre, 22, on suspicion of burglary.

The second incident occurred at 4:46 a.m. Jan. 29 in the 900 block of Pacheco Boulevard. Officers responded to an alarm and discovered the business’s front window broken. Police said the robber is estimated to have taken 80 packs of cigarettes and fled the area.

Police have not identified any suspects in the second incident.
