Pacheco’s second Western Athletic Conference cross country meet was a blowout for visiting Livingston, with the Wolves winning at all four levels – 18-43 in varsity boys, 14-41 in varsity girls, and by forfeit in both frosh/soph boys and girls.

Venus Canaveral won the girls race on the 3.1-mile hill course at the San Luis Reservoir Forebay, running the course in 26:58. Livingston’s Mireya Muniz (29.56) and Mayra Zavala (29:56) placed second and third, with Central Catholic’s Clarissa Sandoval (30:39) finishing fourth. The Raiders ran the same race, with separate scoring between Pacheco/Livingston and Livingston/Central Catholic.

In the boys race, Dilpreet Singh won the race for Livingston at 22:01, followed by teammate Ismael Bucio less than a second later. Jairo Cabrera was the first Panther across the line in third at 22:26. Johnny Lira followed him in seventh (23:29), and Zachary Barger (25.35) was 11th.

Pacheco had no frosh/soph boys running, and two frosh/soph girls. Ariella Chaney (25.46) was seventh in the girls frosh/soph race for Pacheco.

The same afternoon, Los Banos was supposed to run against Ceres in a showdown of league favorites, but a scheduling misunderstanding caused the meet to be postponed.

“They got mixed up and thought we were supposed to be there,” LB coach Elizabeth Stonegrove said via email. “So we are trying to reschedule.”

Dos Palos JV defeat LB

The varsity football game may have been a blowout in favor of Los Banos, but Friday’s junior varsity game leaned in favor of Dos Palos in a 16-6 Broncos win. Ozzie Suarez hit Nathan Flores on a touchdown pass in the first quarter, and Rolando Flores added a field goal later to make it 10-0.

Suarez and Nathan Flores hooked up again later in the game to seal the Dos Palos win.

Across town, the Pacheco JV team defeated McNair 33-24.

Soccer teams lose

Both soccer teams from LB lost on Tuesday, with Los Banos dropping a 6-1 road game to Patterson and Pacheco going down 6-2 to Ceres.

Edgar Iglesias scored both of Pacheco’s goals, with one coming on a penalty kick. Pacheco’s JV squad won 3-0 to improve to 5-0.
