Kid-friendly "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" will be shown today when Merced County Parks and Recreation and the city of Los Banos Recreation Division host Movie in the Park.
The 3-D computer-animated adventure film is about a group of animals fighting their way through Europe in order to get home.
The film is rated PG. The screening will be at 8 p.m. today in the Henry Miller Plaza, Sixth and H streets, in Los Banos. It's free to attend.
"This event gives families something to do together," said Ann McCauley, event organizer.
Hundreds turned out for the featured film in June. McCauley is hoping for a similar turnout tonight.
"It was a really good turnout," she said about the last movie night. "We had at least 500 people. I was surprised, and then I was just thrilled by the turnout."
The movie is being sponsored for the second time by Allied Waste Services. Moviegoers are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes prior to the showing and bring blankets, chairs, food and beverages to the plaza.
"We don't use the plaza enough." McCauley said. "It's a good opportunity to enjoy a fun night, especially for those who have a very limited income."
