Stephen Hammond: An amazing move of God

By Stephen HammondMay 23, 2013

What an amazing move of God in our service last Sunday. Pentecost Sunday is such a special day and God honored us as we poured out our hearts before Him.

With God moving and doing a great work in us individually and as a church, we must keep our eyes open and know that the devil does not like it when God moves upon anyone.

Do not be afraid of his attacks because greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. Remember this very encouraging portion of scripture, Isaiah 59:19 which says, "So shall they fear The name of the LORD from the west, And His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him." New King James Version.

I will never forget sitting in my Old Testament Class in Bible College and my professor saying that the translators placed the comma in this verse in the wrong place.

The comma should have been placed after the word "in" instead of flood. So when that is corrected it reads, When the enemy comes in, like a flood the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. What a difference a comma makes.

It seems like the enemy of our souls is attacking God's people on every side. Know that He will come to our rescue like a flood and overtake and overpower the enemy and give us the victory that belongs to God's people.

We may be pressed but we are not crushed. Persecuted but not abandoned. Struck down but not destroyed. We are blessed beyond the curse because His promise will endure. His joy, the joy of our salvation, is our strength. So don't give up, don't stop. Keep on going. Keep growing. Keep allowing God to do His work in you.

We will persevere and we will be victorious through it all. God is on our side and the battle belongs to Him. His mighty right hand fights for us. Do not be downcast because of your present circumstances, remember what God has done for you in the past and know that He will do it again. Psalm 42.

Our first annual Motorcycle Show and Park Outreach is Saturday at Pacheco Park from 9 am. to 5 p.m. We need volunteers to help man our bounce house and serve hot dogs and chips. Thank you Brother Frank for organizing this great event. Let's cast this net and bring in a great harvest of souls.

God Bless and I hope to see each of you in church on Sunday.
