St. Alban's hosting book, rummage sale

St. Alban's Anglican Church plans a book and rummage sale today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church, 401 W. L St. The sale continues Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, call the Rev. John Combs at (209) 769-0283.

Blood drive is planned at Dos Palos High

Dos Palos High School plans a blood drive Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school, 1701 Blossom Street. For more information, call blood drive chairman Steve Gill at (559) 392-2131 or Rafael Cabrera with the Central California Blood Center at (559) 905-4817.

Senator offers help

Sen. Anthony Cannella, R-Ceres, will hold mobile office hours in Los Banos from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 520 J St. A member of the state senator's staff will provide assistance, including with Department of Motor Vehicles, Employment Development Department or other state agencies or legislation, according to a news release. Film garners award

"The Fight for Water: A Farm Worker Struggle," a documentary by former Los Banos High substitute teacher Juan Oseguera, received an honorable mention as a documentary feature by the Los Angeles Movie Awards. It will show Saturday at the Reel Rasquache Art & Film Festival in Los Angeles. Go to www.reelrasquache.org.

Spay and neuter clinic

Los Banos Volunteers for Animals plan a spay and neuter clinic for cats on May 30. Cost is $20. To sign up, leave a message at the Los Banos Animal Shelter at (209) 827-7089.
