Drug collection planned at UC, sheriff's office

Some of the most commonly abused drugs happen to be the most accessible, and law enforcement is trying to curb that trend with National Drug Take Back Day. The program allows residents to take unused or unwanted prescription drugs to designated dropoff sites for disposal. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27 at the Merced County Sheriff's Department at 700 W. 22nd St. and the UC Merced Police Department at 5200 N. Lake Road. New Beginnings plans sex abstinence concert

Silver Ring Thing, a concert-style event aimed at middle school and high school students, parents and youth leaders, is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. April 27 at New Beginnings Church, 821 W.
