Pacheco Spring Triathlon scheduled Saturday
STAFF REPORTS
Pacheco High will host the inaugural Pacheco Spring Triathlon on Saturday, with check-in and late registration at 8 a.m. and the start of the race at 9 a.m.
The triathlon will consist of a short course (3-mile run, 10-mile bike ride and 400-yard swim) and a long course (6-mile run, 20-mile bike ride and 800-yard swim).
The running course will leave Pacheco and head down Snow Goose Drive to San Luis Street, jump over to Ward Road back to the school, then finish with a rectangle bound by B Street, Place Road and Palermo Drive.
The bicycle route will start the same, but will take Place Road up to Regency Drive, which will take the route to Mercey Springs Road and back. Roads will not be closed, and organizers are asking athletes and local motorists to watch out for each other.
The event will finish with the swimming portion in the Pacheco High pool.
Awards will be given for the top finishers in each course and three deep in each age group. Food and refreshments will be provided for the race participants following the event. All participants will receive a race T-shirt and be entered in a drawing to win a RoadID gift card.
