Arrest made in hit-and-run death of Los Banos reservist

LOS BANOS -- Police say a suspect has been arrested in last weekend's hit and run death of an 18-year-old Army reservist.

Jesse Fuentes, 23, was arrested Wednesday and is currently being interviewed by officers. He's suspected of being the driver who struck Fernando Buenrostro. The victim was riding a motorized scooter Saturday when he was hit by a truck, police said.

The victim died at a Modesto hospital Sunday after suffering major head injuries from the crash.

Police were called to Cardinal Street and Fairmont Drive at 7:41 p.m. Saturday When authorities arrived, they found Buenrostro lying on the ground.
