Los Banos area community briefs
St. Joseph's Catholic church plans a number of fetes in honor of its patron saint this weekend. A service is scheduled at 8:15 a.m. today, as well as a Mass Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Sunday will mark services at 9 and 11 a.m., one to be followed by food and the other to feature the Knights of Columbus, respectively. The largest part of the celebration, which includes music, dancing and a potluck, is planned after the 1 p.m. service Sunday. For more information, call Blanca Bisson at (209) 826-4532.
Bloodmobile to visit Los Banos on Thursday

Blood drive planned at Pacheco AAA office

Transit service workshops scheduled
Officials from the transit service for Merced County -- TheBus -- will host several workshops throughout the county to present revised routes and introduce the recertification process for riders to access Dial-A-Ride services. Two identical Los Banos meetings are planned March 26 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Los Banos Community Center, 645 Seventh St. Riders may also visit the Merced Transpo Center on March 22 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to meet the transit manager, view the proposed new routes and provide input. Teenage driver education available
The California Highway Patrol is offering a Start Smart presentation for teens 15 to 19 and their parents. The course will take place March 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the CHP office, 706 W. Touchdown Club offers poker for a cause
The Los Banos Touchdown Club will have a Texas Hold 'em poker tournament April 7 at Pierre's Delicatessen, 933 Sixth St. The buy-in is $75 and first place is $1,000.
