Pacheco State Park's 10th annual Wildflower Day is next month.

The day of arts and crafts, hiking and picnics is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 6.

Staff from the California Native Plant Society, California Department of Fish and Game and State Parks, to name a few, will volunteer to teach visitors about local wilderness and recreational opportunities in the area, according to a new release.

Along with free arts and crafts for children, the event offers a birding walk at 9:30 a.m. and a nature hike from 10 a.m. to noon.

The hikes are for a limited number of trekkers who sign up on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Visitors can also take self-guided tours.

Families are encouraged to bring their own picnic lunch, or buy lunch from Los Banos' Hot Dog Heaven from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to the release.

"The weather at Pacheco State Park can range from cool and windy to hot, so bring a range of clothing and sunscreen," according to the release.

"Also, there is no drinking water of any kind, so bring your own beverages."

The park entrance fee is $5 per vehicle. For more information, call (209) 826-6283 or email bwong@parks.ca.gov with the subject "Wildflower Day."
