An unidentified male was killed in a gang-related shooting Monday night, marking Los Banos’ first homicide of the year.

The Merced County Coroner’s Office has not released the name of the homicide victim.

The Los Banos Police Department received a report of shots fired at a residence on the 800 block of La Mesa Lane at 9:09 p.m.

Police said when they arrived on the scene they discovered four males in the garage suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the males was pronounced dead on the scene. The other three victims suffered non-life threatening injuries and were airlifted to Modesto area hospitals. Police said the three males are listed in stable condition.

Witnesses reported seeing a male in dark colored clothing running from the area after the shooting, police said. However, police said, not everyone has been forthcoming about the incident.

“Some of the witnesses have been uncooperative as we investigate this case,” Cmdr. Ray Reyna Jr. said. “At this point we do believe this incident is gang related.”

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Eduardo Solis at (209) 827-7070 ext. 137.
