Pacheco sends 2 girls to mat invite

Two Pacheco wrestlers competed with the best female wrestlers in the state at the CIF State Girls Wrestling Invitational last weekend.
Maria Quiroz defeated Panorama's Melissa Martinez 9-5 and pinned Godinez Fundamental's Brenda Hernandez before falling to Rocklin's Olivia Seppini by pin in the 126-pound quarterfinals. She then dropped an overtime match in the consolation bracket to exit the tournament.
Teammate Taryn Mitchell made the second round of the 132-pound bracket before falling by pin to Albany's Erica Sotelo. Mitchell managed one win in the consolation bracket before she was bounced.
All-League hoops
The Western Athletic Conference released its all-league basketball teams, and Los Banos' Alexis Barcellos made the girls first team after helping LB to a 6-6 league record and a playoff berth.
Barcellos finished one of the top 3-point shooters in the state, hitting 28 percent of her long-range shots.
Teammate Jacquelin Arretche made the second team, while LB's Tiffany Liu and Pacheco High School's Samantha Rodriguez and Magii Morales were named honorable mention.
On the boys side, Pacheco's Daniel Marquez was a second-team selection, while LB's James Sams and Pacheco's Le'Andre Wright were named honorable mention.
