MCAG offers pair of scholarships
Staff Reports
STAFF REPORTS
The Merced County Association of Governments is offering two scholarships, one to travel to Washington, D.C., in May with a group advocating for local causes.
A $1,000 renewable scholarship named for Anna Marie Fuentes, an association grant analyst who died 4½ years ago, is available for high school students with at least a 3.0 grade-point average, spokeswoman Lori Flanders said.
A scholarship also is available for an adult to accompany the One Voice delegation of elected officials, business leaders, agency directors and staff as they lobby federal officials May 7-8 in Washington, D.C., on behalf of the county.
Flanders said the travel scholarship, valued at $1,800, will cover airfare, accommodations and food.
Anyone applying for the grant must be at least 18.
Applications for both scholarships are due Feb. 28 and are available at www.mcagov.org or by visiting the MCAG office at 369 W. 18th St., Merced. For more, call Flanders at (209) 723-3153.
MCAG is an association of city and county governments.
