The Los Banos Unified School District sent a letter home to parents Thursday warning them about a child that was approached by a stranger.

According to district officials, a female student from Los Banos Elementary School exited a school bus on San Luis Street Wednesday afternoon. A vehicle reportedly drove past her, made a U-turn and the driver got out and started walking toward the child.

The girl ran to a family member's home that was nearby. As her relatives came out of the home the stranger went back to the vehicle and drove away.

The person is described as a tall Hispanic male with a thin build who was wearing all black.

This is the second time within two weeks the district has reported students being followed by a male adult they did not know.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Los Banos Police Department at (209) 827-7070 ext. 0
