Los Banos boys basketball dropped its Wednesday game 64-54 to Ceres after falling behind early.
Ceres jumped out to an 18-7 lead in the first quarter and maintained a double-digit advantage through most of the game. The Tigers made it respectable with a second-half surge, but the closest they got was 7 points -- 42-35 on a Jourdon Grissom 3-pointer with 3 minutes left in the third quarter.
Ceres stretched the lead again, and again Los Banos closed to less than 10 when Joel Marshall scored a put-back to make it 60-51 Ceres with 1:30 remaining.
Marshall scored 20 points for the Tigers, and Delvonte Moore added 12. Ceres' James Pernetti led all scorers with 24.
