Training aims to help professionals hone skills

Employees throughout Merced County can sharpen their communication skills or learn stress management skills by taking part in professional development training that will be offered by Merced College.
The college will partner with the Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce to offer sessions through its Customer Service Academy.
The academy, which has won several awards, will offer morning and afternoon workshops the last two Thursdays of each month from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m., according to the college.
The topics will include, "Communication in The Workplace," "Customer Service," "Team Building," "Conflict Resolution," "Decision Making and Problem Solving," and "Managing Organizational Change."
The workshops will be held at Merced College's Business Resource Center, 630 W. 19th St. The college has offered the academy for 13 years.
The first workshop will consist of two-day sessions Jan. 24 and 31.
The cost to attend is $23 and participants will receive a half-unit of college credit, according to the college.
