Los Banos Police arrested a pair of alleged car thieves Friday.

While conducting a patrol in the 100 block of Pacheco Boulevard, Sgt. Brent Torongo spotted a green Honda Accord being driven without headlights in a parking lot around 2:58 a.m.

The officer followed the Honda and confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Los Banos on Thursday

According to police, driver Daniel Huerta, 23, and passenger Crystal Wood, 27, both of Los Banos, were placed under arrest.

“We will be investigating what other activities these individuals were up to that evening before being arrested,” Cmdr. Ray Reyna Jr. said. “It’s possible they were involved in other thefts.”

Huerta and Wood are in custody at the Los Banos Police Department Jail pending $50,000 bail. They are held on suspicion of possession of stolen property and vehicle theft.

The vehicle had minor damages and will be returned to the registered owner, police said.
