Local and county authorities arrested 16 people during a probation and parole sweep Tuesday in Los Banos.</p><p>With the assistance of the Merced County Probation Department, Merced County Sheriff&#x92;s Office and Merced County Child Protective Services, the Los Banos Police Department conducted a compliance sweep of locals on Merced County Probation and California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Parole.</p><p>Cmdr. Ray Reyna Jr. said 16 adults were placed under arrest on suspicion of a variety of acts, which included drug possession, violations of probation or parole conditions and firearm possession.</p><p>&#x93;This operation was well planned by officer Jesus Parras and we are glad to report that two more guns have now been taken off the streets of Los Banos,&#x94; Reyna said, in a press release. &#x93;We are grateful to the agencies which assisted us in this successful operation.&#x94;</p><p>The following suspects arrested during the operation are in custody at the John Latorraca Correctional Facility:</p><p>-Jason Timoteo, 39, arrested on suspicion of violation of probation, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a short-barreled shotgun, committing a felony while on bail from a prior criminal offense and possession of a controlled substance while armed.</p><p>-Kevin Lemos, 34, arrested on suspicion of violation of AB-109 probation.</p><p>-Aaron Avila, 24, arrested on suspicion of violation of probation and an outstanding warrant.</p><p>-Frank Baffuna, 35, arrested on suspicion of violation of probation, possession of a controlled substance, felon in possession of a firearm.</p><p>-Lance Darnell, 52, arrested on suspicion of violation possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation.</p><p>-Arrested on suspicion of violation of probation were Steven Parra, 45; Adan Aldama, 23; Dina Cortez, 36; Tony Mercado, 38; Rosendo Sanchez, 18; Jose Munguia, 23; Michael Mirabal, 25; Julian Robles, 26; and Dustin Flint, 33.</p><p>The following suspects arrested during the operation and are in custody at the Merced Main Jail:</p><p>-Arrested on suspicion of violation of probation were Varnell McFadden, 22, and Marcos Esquivel, 21. </p><p>Enterprise reporter Thaddeus Miller can be reached at (209) 388-6562 or by email at tmiller@losbanos<QA0> enterprise.com.
