St. Alban's High Tea is set for Nov. 10
St. Alban's Anglican Church plans its 10th annual High Tea, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10 in the church's Parish Hall, 401 W. L St. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door. For more information, call Marion Lisotto at (209) 829-1932.
Recognizing veterans on Armed Forces Night
Los Banos High School plans Armed Forces Night Nov. 2 at Loftin Stadium, 903 E. Pacheco Blvd., before the football game against Pacheco High. All veterans will be invited onto the field for the color guard pre-game ceremony at 7:15. Veterans with VFW or American Legion cards will be admitted to the football game free of charge. Kiwanis Club taking orders for holiday pies
The Los Banos Kiwanis Club plans a Marie Callender's Thanksgiving pie sale, formerly sponsored by the Los Banos Arts Council. Orders are being accepted for apple, sugar-free apple lite, banana cream, berry, blueberry, cherry, chocolate cream, coconut cream, french apple with cinnamon streusel topping, lemon meringue, mince, peach, pecan, pumpkin, razzleberry and sugar-free razzleberry lite. All pies are $13, and all orders must be prepaid by Nov. 12. Pick-up date is Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Los Banos Community Center, 645 Seventh Street. Health care is subject of Tea Party meeting
The Los Banos Tea Party plans its monthly meeting Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Parish Hall of St. John's Lutheran Church, 250 W. Adams. Beth Hayes of Docs4patientcare will be speaking on the medical changes she expects when Obamacare is fully implemented. This event is free and open to the public.
Poetry competition accepting entries
Oregon-based contest Poetry Idol Auditions is accepting poems of 21 lines or less through Nov. 10. Fifty-one prizes totaling $6,000 and the title of "Poetry Idol for 2012" are in the running.
