Suspect in DMV robbery booked into Merced County Jail
A 20-year-old man accused of robbing a Department of Motor Vehicles branch in Los Banos earlier this year has been booked into the Merced County Jail for the alleged crime.
Jason Moran was arrested last month in Manassas, Va. for allegedly committing the Jan. 31 robbery with another man, who remains at large. He was transported from Virgina to California this week, and arrived Tuesday in Merced County, according to Los Banos police.
Part of the investigation into the DMV robbery included Los Banos police detectives flying to Virginia to interview Moran about his involvement in the incident.
The incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. Witnesses said two men wearing black pants, black hooded sweaters and black ski masks entered the DMV office at 814 L St. At least one of the men was armed with a gun.
The robbers took an undisclosed sum of cash from employees.
Moran is being held in lieu of $300,000 bail.
