City appoints acting city manager

October 17, 2012

Los Banos City Council voted unanimously to appoint Los Banos Police Chief Gary Brizzee as acting city manager until the permanent position is filled.

“Gary’s commitment to the city of Los Banos is steadfast,” Mayor Mike Villalta said, in a press release. “He’s an outstanding police chief, and an outstanding individual. He will help lead our city through this transition until a permanent city manager is hired.”

City Manager Steve Rath is set to retire Oct. 31. Brizzee will take on the acting city manager duties, as well as keep his administrative position in the police department, on Nov. 1.

“Our city is strong and well-positioned for the future,” Brizzee said, in the release.
