An arrest has been made in connection with a stabbing last month.

Bernaldino Pereyda, 20, was taken into custody Oct. 5 for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, conspiracy to commit a crime and participation in a criminal street gang.

Police said they served a search warrant in the 400 block of K Street after receiving information alleging Pereyda was one of the people involved in a Sept. 30 stabbing in the 1200 block of Fourth Street.

In that incident an 18-year-old male was found suffering from multiple stab wounds to his legs. The victim reportedly told police he was walking with friends in the area when rival gang members approached and began shouting gang-related phrases. The teen was subsequently assaulted by several of the suspected gang members and was robbed and stabbed. The victim was airlifted to a Modesto area hospital and treated.

Pereyda is at the Los Banos Jail pending $150,000 bail. Police did not state whether they are close to making additional arrests.
