Today is the deadline for fair's logo contest
The deadline for the 2013 Merced County Fair's annual logo design contest is 5 p.m. today.
Graphic designs and, for the first time, photo illustrations are being considered. The logo will be paired with the slogan, "Thank You Veterans."
"We want to see entries that show honor and respect for our veterans, but also celebrate our men and women who have served in uniform to show them our appreciation," said Tom Musser, the fair's CEO.
The winning artist will receive a $500 prize and season passes to the fair. The logo will be used on posters, ads, postcards, schedules, T-shirts, as well as the fair's website and Facebook page.
Entries may be submitted in person or by mail to the fairgrounds office at 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Merced CA, 95341. Individuals should include their name, address and phone number, and a signed copy of the following statement:
"The logo entry (entries) are the artist's own original, artistic creation and intellectual property."
Photographs of recognizable, living people must be accompanied by a photo release form signed by the individual depicted. No copyrighted photos will be accepted.
Graphic artists may use any medium and submit up to three entries on 8½- by 11-inch paper. Up to three, high resolution (300 dpi or better) photo illustrations can be submitted, and high resolution digital files must be provided upon request.
The fair's board of directors will select the first, second and third prize winners at its Oct. 8 board meeting. Call (209)722-1507
