Los Banos High's junior varsity football team earned its first win Friday with a 28-6 win over Roosevelt -- all the points coming in the first half.

Jordan Sams opened the scoring on LB's first drive with a 26-yard touchdown run, and Jordan Smith added a 35-yard run later in the first quarter.

David Walker extended LB's lead in the second quarter with a 72-yard kickoff return, and Sams scored on another 26-yard run just before halftime.

Roosevelt's first drive of the second half ended in a Lane Mallonee interception, and two more Roosevelt drives in the game ended with punts.

Pacheco's JV team lost 14-12 to Escalon, and the freshman team fell 14-6 to Escalon.

LB's freshmen won their game Thursday, 20-7 over Lathrop.

Girls golf

Los Banos High's girls golf team dropped its second match of the season 195-216 on Tuesday. Pacheco also dropped its Tuesday match, 223-279 to Ceres.

The losses dropped both teams to 0-2 in Western Athletic Conference team matches after LB lost to Central Valley Aug. 28 and Pacheco lost to Central Catholic Aug. 30.


Los Banos opened WAC play Tuesday with a 9-0 sweep of Central Valley to improve to 2-0 on the season. LB heads down to Fresno this weekend.


Pacheco soccer team won its Tuesday match at Gustine 2-1. The Panthers and the Redskins faced off again Thursday (results were unavailable at press time).
