Driver fleeing police hits house in Los Banos

A car crashed into a home after being involved in a hit-and-run accident, police said.

Saturday at 10 p.m., police spotted a red Pontiac in the 1100 block of Oatgrass Way that was believed to have been involved in an accident minutes earlier. The driver of the Pontiac reportedly crashed into the home while attempting to evade police.

Cmdr. Ray Reyna Jr. said no one was harmed in the hit and run, making it a misdemeanor. A woman who rents the house was home at the time of the crash but was unharmed.

Law enforcement gave the driver of the Pontiac, Jaime Sandoval, 26, of Los Banos, a sobriety test after he crashed into the home.

Sandoval was arrested on suspicion of hit and run and driving under the influence of alcohol. He was initially taken to the Los Banos Jail, but has since been given a citation and told to appear in court at a later date.

There is no word on the monetary value for the damage caused to the home.
