Personal records fall at Dos Palos dual swim meet

Friday's dual meet between the Los Banos Tiger Sharks and the Dos Palos Dolphins at Dos Palos High saw a number of personal records fall.
Leading the charge was 6-year-old Brooklyn Gallagher, who won all three of her events -- the 25-yard freestyle (22.37 seconds), the 50-yard freestyle (53.75) and the 25-yard butterfly (31.69), setting personal records in all three -- including knocking 45 seconds off her 50-yard freestyle time.
Other female three-event winners for the Tiger Sharks included Alex Marquez in the 13-14-year old 50-yard freestyle (28.27, a PR), 100-yard freestyle (1:02.69, another PR) and 100-yard butterfly (1:14.71); Mayra Garcia in the 15-16 100-yard freestyle (58.51, knocking two seconds off her best time), 100-yard breaststroke (1:21.57) and 100-yard butterfly (1:07.78); and Morgan Hurley in the 17-18 50-yard freestyle (27.15), 100-yard freestyle (59.07) and 100-yard butterfly (1:09.63).
On the boys side, Emiliano Grieco won the 7-8 25-yard backstroke (21.96), 50-yard freestyle (38.69, knocking 7 seconds off his PR) and 25-yard breaststroke (25.27, another PR); Diego Soberanes won the 9-10 100-yard individual medley (1:35.75), 100-yard freestyle (1:19.15) and 50-yard butterfly (44.33); and Jared Benitez won the 13-13 50-yard freestyle (25.29 for a PR), 100-yard backstroke (1:02.73) and 100-yard freestyle (55.25, shaving 3seconds from his PR).
Others knocking large chunks of time off their races were 6-year-old Gannon Lemos, who went from 1:08.75 to 52.88 in the 50-yard freestyle and Erubey Martinez, who knocked 16 seconds off his 100-yard freestyle time.
The Tiger Sharks and Dolphins are back in action at the DPHS pool Saturday for the Dos Palos Sprint Invitational.
