Curtain is up: Arts center lines up 5 acts that are sure to please

The Los Banos Arts Council has announced its concert series, and it's a varied lineup.
Featured will be a local musician, performers new to the area and the return of a fan favorite.
Series organizer Cyndi Roelofs said she's always on the hunt for new acts.
"I spend a lot of time listening and looking," Roelofs said.
Here's the schedule:
Sept. 8: The first concert features country and Western singer- songwriter Terry Brown, who has penned songs for Aaron Tippin, Charley Pride and the Marshall Tucker Band. The Los Banosan will perform music, and wife Hilda Machado-Brown will show off her trick- and fancy-roping skills.
Oct. 27: Talk of da Town, a five-member a capella group, performs doo-wop, R&B and Motown. The San Francisco-based group has appeared with legendary musicians Ray Charles, James Brown, Patti LaBelle and others.
Dec. 1: The Latin, jazz and world-fusion performing James Robinson Trio has connections to Livingston. Robinson, a Bay Area native, is something of a guitar virtuoso.
Feb. 16: Houston Jones calls itself "high-octane Americana." The quintet from Castro Valley puts its own spin on blues, gospel and bluegrass standards.
April 21: The Devil Mountain Jazz Band, known for its Dixieland performances, will be back by popular demand. The eight-member group is from Oakley.
The Arts Council's annual fundraiser Big Night, which has carried an Italian theme for a few years, may get an Irish makeover as it's planned March 17, St. Patrick's Day. Roelofs said it's too early to know for certain.
The concerts are $20 at the door, or a season pass for all five is $65. The season pass comes with a $5 coupon for a friend.
All of the events are scheduled at the Ted Falasco Arts Center, 1105 Fifth St.
Passes are available from Roelofs at (209) 826-6132 or from Gary Wulbern at (209) 826-0489.
