Weekend shootings investigated

Victims are hospitalized

Los Banos police are investigating whether two shootings during the weekend are related.

Police responded to Memorial Hospital, Los Banos Saturday at 4:01 a.m. after being notified that a shooting victim was at the facility.

Officers spoke with a 30-year-old man who reported he was shot while in front of a residence in the 300 Block of North Street. Police went to the North Street address and found blood and other evidence of a shooting.

Police said the victim was unhelpful in providing details about the shooting or a description of the suspect.

The victim was airlifted to a Modesto area hospital for his injuries and is reportedly in stable condition.

On Sunday at 2:13 a.m. the Los Banos Police Department responded to the 1100 Block of D Street following a report of a second shooting. Officers found a 28-year-old male suffering from two gunshot wounds.

A witness told police a thin male wearing a hooded sweatshirt and shorts approached the victim and the two started arguing. During the argument, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot at the victim several times, police said.

The victim was transported to a Modesto area hospital for his injuries. He is reportedly in stable condition.

“At this point, we are still trying to determine if the two shootings over the weekend are related,” Cmdr. Ray Reyna Jr. said.
