Teen stabbed in apparent gang incident

Suspects were arrested

A 19-year-old man is in stable condition after being stabbed during a gang-related fight Sunday in the 700 block of Illinois Avenue, Los Banos police reported.

Officers responded at 7:35 p.m. and found the victim suffering from several stab wounds to his upper torso. He was flown to a Modesto hospital. Witnesses directed police to a nearby apartment where two 16-year-old males and 18-year-old Fernando Rosales were located. The trio were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, participation in a criminal street gang and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Rosales remains at the Merced County Jail in lieu of $135,000 bail and the two juveniles were booked into Merced County juvenile hall. Police are asking anyone with information to call Detective Eduardo Solis at (209) 827-7070 ext. 137.
