Los Banos police are searching for two men who robbed the Department of Motor Vehicles branch Tuesday afternoon.

The robbery was reported at 4:20 p.m. Witnesses said two men wearing black pants, black hooded sweaters and black ski masks entered the office at 814 L St., according to police.

At least one of the men was armed with a gun. The robbers took an undisclosed sum of cash from employees. They were last seen running south from the building.

"The witnesses saw them running south, then they were out of sight. Nobody saw a vehicle," Cmdr. Ray Reyna Jr. said.

However, police are investigating the possibility that the suspects committed another robbery at a business in Newman less than two hours later.

"We are looking into it and contacting other agencies to find out if they've had any similar robberies," Reyna said.

The Los Banos DMV office was closed Wednesday so police could continue their investigation, state officials said.
