Pastor's Commentary: Give thanks for the rain

By Ed RamFebruary 3, 2012

I want to thank the Lord for blessing us with rain. I've received numerous texts and phone calls from people who read the article about standing in faith for rain. I believe that when you put your faith and trust in God's word, he'll always make a way where there seems to be no way. I'd like to refer back to Matthew 18:19-20 "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on Earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in the midst of them.

Notice the phrase; if two of you agree on Earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them of my Father in heaven. Let's look at that a little closer and notice that the Lord said, concerning anything.

The first time I understood that verse it made a lasting impact in my life. He said concerning anything. That includes your health, your home, your friends, your finances and anything else that comes to mind. God is so loving and generous that he has given us the opportunity to come into agreement in light of his word and believe for a specific need to be met in our lives.

Here's another verse of scripture that also confirms that God's desire is for us to have all our needs met. 1 John 3:22-23 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

Notice that the Lord says that prior to agreeing in prayer for a specific need we must believe on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and to love one another.

You must have confidence in God and his word if it's going to work on your behalf. I've been teaching on our Wednesday night services a message titled "Faith for All Seasons." I'd like to invite you to come and sit in as I continue to teach along this line. We are at 615 E St. in Los Banos.

The Los Banos Enterprise is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
