Reorganizing for the new year was discussed at Wednesday's Community Resource Council meeting.
Retired Police Chief Mark Knapp said he would like the monthly meetings to have a theme.
"There could be times where there's a health fair coming up," Knapp said, giving an example, "so March would be my health month because there's an event (scheduled)."
The group decided February's theme will be volunteerism.
Reina Nino of Valley Crisis Center said she would like to present information on teen issues.
"I'm working on putting together more information on domestic violence and teens, because there's so much kids don't know ... cyberstalking, things like that," Nino said.
CRC facilitator Ashlee Williams resigned last month. The group, which consists of community organizations and government entities, suggested members take turns coordinating the meetings quarterly.
Starting an outreach effort to increase membership was also discussed. Megan Soares, who led Wednesday's meeting, said social media may be the best way to do it.
"I went to this meeting and they had a thing about social media and how many people are actually using it. It had some stigmas attached to it, but most things do," Soares said. "I'm thinking just for information, if people are at home they might think, 'Oh, that's something I want to be involved with.' "
Knapp said groups should encourage members to attend meetings.
"There are people who should be here every month," he said. "There are people that think, 'I don't have anything to present this month so I'm not going.' That's not the point, it's you being here. It doesn't have to be the CEO, send somebody to represent you."
