Police search for armed robber

A man robbed a local convenience store at gunpoint early Sunday morning, police said.

Police responded to Circle K on the 400 block of N. Mercey Springs Road shortly after the incident was reported at 3:03 a.m.

On May 15, 2011 at approximately 3:03 a.m., the Los Banos Police Department responded to the 400 Block of N Mercy Springs Road regarding an armed robbery.

Officers spoke with the clerk on duty, who told them a light skinned male in his late teens to early 20s, entered the business with a handgun and demanded money.

The suspect reportedly was wearing a mask, blue jeans and a black sweatshirt, police said.

The clerk was not injured during the robbery. Police said the suspect fled the business in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of stolen cash.

Police are not releasing any further information, citing the case as an ongoing investigation.
