A Los Banos man is wanted by the Fresno Police Department after allegedly robbing a McDonald’s in the city on Monday.

Tuesday morning some local residents near Overland Avenue were awakened as law enforcement used Lorena Falasco Elementary School as a staging area for preparation to go search for the suspect at his residence.

Fresno Police Department Det. Brian Pierce said Martin Earl Rushing,40, of Los Banos is suspected of committing an armed robbery at the McDonald’s restaurant on Shaw Avenue near Highway 99.

Pierce said the suspect entered the business and was attempting to steal property when the morning crew arrived and surprised him. Rushing allegedly brandished a weapon, pointed it at workers and fled the scene, Pierce said.

Fresno authorities teamed with detectives in the cities of Madera and Los Banos as well as Merced County, to try to apprehend Rushing. Pierce said similar robberies have occurred in many of those locations.

Rushing was not found during Tuesday’s search in Los Banos. Pierce said Rushing should be considered armed and dangerous. He said anyone who knows of Rushing’s whereabouts is being asked to contact law enforcement.
