Man allegedly found with 1/2 pound of drug

November 29, 2010

A local man who was wanted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was found in possession of thousands of dollars of methamphetamine, according to the Los Banos Police Department.

Sgt. Zina Holden said ICE asked local authorities to help it find Pedro Luna, 42, of Los Banos. At 12:38 p.m., police went to Luna's home on the 300 block of Santa Paula Street. Holden said that while Luna was being detained, officers discovered a large amount of methamphetamine in his pockets.

Holden said authorities obtained search warrants for Luna's home and vehicles. Police said they found another large quantity of methamphetamine during their search.

Holden estimates a half-pound of the drug was discovered. Police Chief Gary Brizzee said that amount of methamphetamine has a street value of $5,000 to $7,000.

Holden said the drugs were packaged for sale. Luna was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell. Luna is being held in the Los Banos Jail without bail as ICE pursues deportation.
