Los Banos Youth football kicked off its 2010 season last Saturday at Loftin Stadium.
The Los Banos Youth Tigers hosted the Chowchilla Redskins in all three divisions of Tri-County League action. The Tiger PeeWees used two touchdowns by Daniel Guerrero, and one score each by Desante Tate and Paulie Calderon to defeat the Redskin PeeWees 28-6.
The coaches praised the defensive work of Edward Rivera, Carlos Lopez and Joel Garcia as the Tigers held Chowchilla to just one score. In the junior varsity contest, Los Banos defeated Chowchilla 26-6. Christian Rivera crossed the goal line three times, and Redmond Lawson added a touchdown for the Tigers.
On defense, Mark Barcellos, Justin Douglas and David Walker played an outstanding game for Los Banos.
The varsity game was the only contest that did not go the Tigers way, as Chowchilla defeated Los Banos 36-0. Injuries to two key Tiger players, Librado Velasquez and Loggan Pimental, limited the Los Banos offense all game long.
Meanwhile the Los Banos Wildcats Youth football squads had a bye, but will open their Cen-Cal League home season tomorrow against the Atwater Falcons, with all games at Loftin stadium.
